What are your thoughts about the physics tests? Too hard? Reasonable? What can students do to prepare for the tests?

To me, the physics tests are hard. I think I need to get into a better study group who will help me make sense of things that I am not fully getting. I think doing Physics Quizzes should be a required contract for each unit because there are always several problems straight from them.

I believe that the tests are fair enough, because of the FFL. That gives people a chance to increase their grades. also, they have equal numbers of easy and hard problems, and that gives you more time to work on hard ones. the help sheet also helps a lot

I agree....I think that if we didn't have FFL, then the tests would be extremely hard. FFL gives us a second chance to go back and learn what we did wrong, which really helps me get it right the next time. The helpsheets also help. So overall, the tests are fair, on a little bit of the hard side. ;D

I agree with the above, but I enjoy the challenge that the tests show. I think the fact that we have FFL allows Mr. Fisher to be a little tricky with the test, and give us some questions involving application that we may not have been expecting...aah the joy of seeing a problem fall into place...

I think your tests are pretty reasonable... they are very challenging but the tutorings and study groups really help you get prepared.. i like the help sheet idea a lot becuase it saves you a lot of time.. i think the hardest test was the space one we just took...

I think I would do better on the tests if I could get a few more study tips ... I am still trying to figure out the best ways to actually study & prepare for physics tests ... any suggestions?

I think it would be nice for study guides that we get to study for the test not to be given out the day before the test, but 2 days before the test. That way, the next class, before the test, we could have a chance to get help if we were unable to solve a few problems and have Mr. Fisher, the expert, show how to do it.

The practice EOC test was quite difficult. I strongly dissagreed w/ having a physics test the day befor the EXAM!!! I think that it would have been just as effective if we had done the test as a review during class in groups, this way we would have been able to learn the material while doing it during class, and we would not have had to stay after school in order to get tutoring!!!

Most of the tests can be easy if you understand the material enough and prepare a lot for them. If you don't and if you are struggling with the concept, then they can be quite challenging.
The thing is, though, that FFL and the curve cancel out how hard they can be. It also boosts moral (getting a better grade makes you feel like less of a loser) and you definitely learn from your mistakes (FFL). So yeah...the tests are reasonable enough. But, then again, reaosnable has a different meaning for each individual.
To prepare: physics quizzes are a must. Always.

Agreed. Without PQ, we would all be lost in a never-ending abyss, but, then again, without PQ, Mr. Fisher wouldn't have any of those questions to put on the test (heh). I guess the point is that if you know something specifically will be on a test, you should study that specific something, and maybe some good will come out of it.

I think every physics class should be started off with a good stretch, especially on test days. Studies have shown that it helps stimulate your brain cells.... in other words... higher test scores... which will lead to our continuous victory over Providence! Also, I strongly agree with the idea that practice tests should be given out two days before the unit test (for the same reasons as commented in previous posts). AND i think mr fisher needs to get a myspace. that would be pretty sweet.

I'm pretty stoked about the PHYSICS TEST tomorrow!!! I'm not as nervous as I usually am, but that's because it's a group test. BUT just remember to NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A PHYSICS TEST!!!! See you guys later!!!!!
