I think having different students teach the do (k)nows could be a bit more interesting and i think having longer units could also be helpful. There is a lot of information to cover sometimes in the 4/5 day units and i think if the units were longer students could have more time to grasp the concepts. I like the practice tests and handing them out a day or two earlier could be of great help.

i think that we should have been given the practice test real early, because i didnt finish in class and i had a bunch of questions still. i could have spent a lot more time on it too, because now i have 8 exams to worry about

Thinking about our options, I could have done the practice exam on day 2 (Wed for A-Day students) and eliminated the Group Test. But I suspect, if I had done that -- many A-Day students would not have been ready on the 1st day back after the long break to do a good job on a comprehensive test. What do other students think? If we had more days ( even one more) it would be great ---- but we have limited time to do infinite tasks.

The PQ/GQ Matrix is really helpful to use when you're reviewing for the Physics Semester Test -- I like how you told us exactly what chapters to test ourselves on. This is going to help for the final exam too!

I think that longer units would really help. Also, if the notes were on a powerpoint, or at least more legible, a lot more people could better understand the notes.

I liked the practice group test on day two because it was great review for the individual test. Also, we could help each person in our group with their own difficulties. Then, if no one in the group could understand it, Mr. Fisher could explain it to the whole group once instead of each individual having to ask him and taking up more of his time.

If I were the teacher I would pair students up based on skill level in the class so that they could work together on class work, the stronger student could help the not so strong student. I know that we already kind of do this but maybe if it wasn't where you picked friends because some students are shy. Also I would try harder to give more 1 on 1 time to struggling students.
Great Job Mr. Fisher!

I agree with many of the people above but what I love is that you use schoolnotes.com.....this helps me so much it is like my physics agenda and with it i never forget about a test or any assignment...thanks mr fisher for taking the time to use schoolnotes.com

If I were Mr. Fisher I would emphasize the do knows and attempt to avoid tangents. I would also give out the practice test two classes before the test to ensure understanding. ;D

As a suggestion for all physics classes, I sugest we make greater use of the "parking lot". Students in all the classses have access to technology that enables us to post how to do problems that many students have dificulty understanding the steps too. We could use a scanner to scan in how to do the different steps of a problem, leaving notes that could then be posted on the message board for students to use to help guide their learning. I think that the use of it could be incorporated by the students by showing which problems they have difficulty in class or on polls on the message board. My family has an old scanner that we would be willing to donate to the physics class room, for students to use to place on the message board how to do specific physics problems.

i liked being able to a practice test with a group and then taking the individual practice exam. i just wish there was more time to figure out and learn from your mistakes. i took the test today and my exam is tomorrow!

Wow, there are so many good suggestions here, I'm not sure I can improve on any of them! I definitely agree with power point slides- they're much more organized and would solve the problem of people not being able to see the boards on both sides of the room. I think Do Knows are the best thing for me in Physics, they help me SEE how a problem should be done. I don't mind your stories either Mr. Fisher- all work and no fun doesn't make for an interesting class! -Kate Weddington, B4

i personally liked that one time when all the different classes were trying to see which class could have all the people answer the worksheet correctly. I think it would be fun if every once in a while we did that in smaller groups in each class, where about 4-5 people per group and each group is trying to be the first to finish with all the members having the correct answers. This could serve as a type of review before a test or something.
